Photography has been around for a long time, with the first recorded instance of color photography taking place in 1861. This was made possible by the invention of the first color photographic process, called the Autochrome Lumi?re. This process used a plate coated in a layer of microscopic potato starch grains, which were dyed red, green, and blue. When exposed to light, these grains would absorb and reflect different colors of light, resulting in a color image.
It wasn’t until the early 20th century that color photography became more widespread, with the development of color film. This made color photography more accessible to amateur photographers, and It’soon became a popular way to capture memories and moments. Today, color photography is the norm, and we can thank early pioneers like the Lumi?re brothers for making it possible.
